Ya, mereka sudah salah memberikan nama! Dan telah menjadi sebuah tragedi atas salah pemberian nama tersebut. Seperti layaknya kebanyakan hal, manusia tanpa keraguan telah melakukan apa yang terbaik dan tidak membayangkan, tidak memikirkan, tidak memproyeksikan diri mereka sendiri ke masa depan dan mempertimbangkan konsekuensi yang akan terjadi atas salah pemberian nama tersebut.

Bagaimana mereka bisa tahu bahwa setelah 35 tahun kemudian, orang yang melakukan training hanya dalam waktu satu bulan di bidang ini langsung dapat menggunakan gelar, “Master Practitioner”, dengan penekanan pada kata Master, dan menganggap bahwa : mereka telah sampai, mereka mengetahui semuanya, mereka tidak lagi perlu belajar, mereka telah mencapai tahap Guru-dom?!

Sejarah dari NLP “Practitioner” dan “Master Practitioner” itu sendiri merupakan suatu hal yang menarik. Sejak tahun 1978, ketika Leslie Cameron-Bandler meletakan “Practitioner” pertama yang memakan waktu 36 hari, pelatihan NLP Prac waktu itu dirancang untuk mengenalkan model-model dasar NLP dan memberikan kompetensi mendasar untuk menggunakan model-model dan pattern-pattern; dan mulai berpikir dalam model-model ini.

Permasalahan

Baru-baru ini saya bertanya kepada sejumlah trainer NLP di Hong Kong, Mesir, Tokyo, Malaysia, dan Australia, “Apakah tantangan terbesar yang Anda hadapi dalam praktek NLP dan bisnis Anda?” Dan jawabannya tidak hanya serupa dan mengejutkan, tetapi ini juga menyoroti tema umum yang tampaknya telah bergema di seantero dunia bagi orang-orang yang peduli tentang masa depan dari bidang ini, “Rendahnya mutu pelatihan dan praktek NLP.”

Saya kemudian bertanya tentang pembuktiannya. “Apa buktinya bahwa ada masalah mengenai rendahnya kualitas dari pengetahuan dan keterampilan dari NLP?”. Dan itu mencuatkan berbagai masalah. Yang paling sering dikatakan para trainer adalah mengenai orang-orang yang bersertifikat sebagai praktisi yang tidak pernah belajar Meta-Model sebagai sebuah model komunikasi (model pertama di bidang ini), tidak terlatih dalam hal strategi atau pemodelan (ini jantungnya NLP), dan yang menggabungkan berbagai praktek “New Age” yang mungkin menyenangkan, tapi sayangnya tidak ada hubungannya dengan NLP dan faktanya, ini membingungkan mereka tentang apa sebenarnya NLP itu.
